Israel orders evacuation - Hundreds flee from Chan Junis again
Many Palestinians, who had already fled multiple times during the ten-month war, took to the roads again, as observed by AFP journalists. Following the latest evacuation call, "we don't know where to go," said 55-year-old Sami Tschahada. He had previously fled from Khan Yunis after his daughter was killed in a bombing.
According to the United Nations Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA, more than 75,000 people have been displaced in the southern part of the Gaza Strip in recent days alone.
Israel's new evacuation call came just a day after another Israeli attack on a school in Gaza City, which sparked sharp international criticism. According to Gaza Strip's civil defense, the Saturday attack killed 93 Palestinians, including children.
Israel claimed that the attack killed 19 fighters from Palestinian organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
In the midst of the displacement, Chan, a neighbor of Sami, expressed similar sentiments, saying, "We've been uprooted yet again, and we don't know where to call home." Previously, Chan's family had left Khan Younis due to intense violence.
