Leipzig - Irritant gas on a regional train: large-scale operation

Several passengers suffered breathing difficulties after irritant gas was sprayed on a regional train in Leipzig on Thursday evening. The incident led to a large-scale operation. Six people were taken to hospital as a precaution, according to a spokesperson for the federal police in Leipzig. The train had stopped in the Möckern district because of the incident, it said. The passengers eventually continued their journey on a replacement train.

According to the police, it has not yet been possible to determine what kind of substance leaked from the regional train. It is possible that it evaporated into the air.
