Mühlhausen public prosecutor's office - Investigations against twelve suspected "Reich citizens"

The Mühlhausen public prosecutor's office is investigating twelve suspected "Reich citizens" on suspicion of forming a criminal organization. An arrest warrant has been issued and executed against two of the suspects, the investigating authority announced on Wednesday.

This was preceded by searches and seizures at eleven locations throughout Thuringia on Tuesday. Around 150 police officers and employees of the public prosecutor's office were involved. Many written documents and electronic data carriers as well as assets were secured.

Scene in Thuringia has grown significantly stronger

"Reich citizens" are people who do not recognize the Federal Republic of Germany and its democratic structures. The Thuringian Office for the Protection of the Constitution recently reported a significant increase in the scene in the Free State and attributed around 1,000 people to it in 2022. The year before, the figure had been 770.

On Tuesday, the federal prosecutor's office filed the first charges following a large-scale anti-terror raid on December 7, 2022. At that time, the hunting lodge of Henry XIII Prince Reuss, the alleged ringleader, in Bad Lobenstein was also searched.

The increase in the scene was reported to be around 1,000 people in 2022, compared to 770 the year before.

The determination of the authorities to tackle criminality and extremism in Thuringia was evident in the large-scale operation led by the federal prosecutor's office against the "Reich citizens", which resulted in charges being filed after the anti-terror raid on December 7, 2022.

Despite the arrests and seizures, the public prosecutor's office in Mühlhausen continues to vigilantly monitor the situation and work towards preventing further criminal activities by the suspected "Reich citizens" in Thuringia.
