Following the discovery of a body on a U.S. military base's premises, police and prosecutors in the Palatinate are investigating a suspected homicide. The victim is a 63-year-old man who worked as an employee of an external company in a building on the base, the Westpfalz Police Headquarters announced on Monday. The body was found by his supervisor at the workplace on August 3. An autopsy revealed signs of violence. A 28-year-old colleague is suspected of the crime and has fled abroad. Possible motives are currently unknown.

The military base has been put on high alert due to the homicide investigation. The suspected perpetrator, a 28-year-old colleague of the victim, had military ties as well.
