Berlin-Friedrichshain - Investigation after suspected robbery in coin store

Following a suspected robbery at a coin shop in Berlin-Friedrichshain, the police are investigating the background. On Tuesday, they released further details about the incident. At least one alleged customer is said to have entered the store in Frankfurter Allee on Monday, knocked the owner down and ransacked the back room and a safe, according to the police. In addition, one or more perpetrators are said to have taken the owner's wallet and the store key and then fled. It is currently being investigated whether other items were stolen.

The police were called to the store on Monday afternoon. On arrival, the officers initially found the coin shop in Frankfurter Allee locked. The police said that the task force finally broke down the front door, as it was initially unclear whether the owner was in distress or whether possible perpetrators were still on site. The emergency services found the slightly injured owner in the store.

Part of Frankfurter Allee was temporarily closed due to the operation. The man was taken to hospital for inpatient treatment.
