Launching "Study in Saxony" Campaign to Attract International Students

The Ministry of Science is launching a new campaign, "Study in Saxony," to attract young people from abroad to study in the Free State. "We can confidently promote the best conditions and good career prospects for the study location of Saxony," said Minister Sebastian Gemkow (CDU) at the launch in Dresden. "Study in Saxony" aims to highlight the diverse study opportunities and support universities in recruitment - through traditional formats like fairs, flyers, or posters, but especially through strong social media presence.

Study in Saxony: First Step to a Career in the State

Gemkow emphasized that many industries require professionals with academic qualifications. "A degree from a university in Saxony can be the first step to a great career here," he said. The campaign aims to showcase the study location of Saxony, with its well-rounded and excellently equipped universities, in a modern way.

According to ministry figures, around 100,000 students are enrolled at the universities in the Free State. "Study in Saxony" aims to maintain this level in the coming years, despite Germany's demographic changes. The campaign builds on the predecessor model "Pack your studies. Preferably in Saxony," which ran from 2009 to June 2021 and primarily targeted domestic students.

The campaign, "Study in Saxony," is focused on leveraging Saxony's top-notch educational institutions and promising career prospects to attract international students. Gemkow mentioned that obtaining a degree from a Saxon university could serve as a stepping stone towards a rewarding career within the state.
