Domestic policy - Interior ministers discuss anti-Semitism and the threat of terrorism
Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser sees anti-Semitism and the dangers posed by Islamist terror as key topics at the Conference of Interior Ministers (IMK), which begins on Wednesday. "For me, the central topic of this conference of interior ministers is to continue to take joint action against the increasing threat of Islamist terrorism and against the repugnant hatred towards Jews and Israel," she told the news portal "T-Online". The IMK must also send a clear signal: "Jewish life is under the special protection of our state. We are doing everything we can for the safety of Jews in our country."
At the same time, she emphasized that there is a heightened threat situation, particularly from Islamist terrorism. "Right now, we need to keep a close eye on Islamist threats and stop further radicalization processes."
The IMK will meet in Berlin this Wednesday for its three-day fall conference. Faeser is a permanent guest at the IMK, but does not have the right to vote.
