The water levels keep going up. - Intensive flooding on the Rhine and Neckar rivers.
The flooding situation in Hesse continues to be worrisome along the Rhine and Neckar. Four gauges of the two rivers have gone beyond their warning limits during the weekend, as reported by the Hessian State Agency for Nature Conservation, Environment, and Geology (HLNUG) on Monday. By Wednesday, it is forecasted that the water levels of the Hessian Rhine section will continue to climb. In multiple places, the Rhine is projected to surpass Hessian warning level 3 on Tuesday. The Main's water levels are also anticipated to go up on Monday. However, the HLNUG asserts that no warnings levels will be surpassed for the Main in the coming days.
Recently, the Dill and Weschnitz rivers have been badly affected by flooding during the weekend. Right now, the water levels of both these rivers are gradually lowering, says the HLNUG. Since weather, according to the German Weather Service, has ceased to be stormy, the HLNUG does not anticipate any further breaches of warning levels.
Contrasted to southern Germany, Hesse was lucky with only marginal flooding. Due to this, Hessian Interior Ministry released that approximately 20 vehicles and 111 emergency services could be dispatched to Bavaria to aide the management of the flood situation there. In certain areas, though, heavy showers also caused flooding in Hessen. Measures were applied. For instance, the B42 federal highway on the Rhine was shut down in multiple areas on Monday, as informed by the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis.
The HLNUG cannot foresee local flooding and flooding caused by heavy rains. Therefore, they counsel keeping an eye on DWD's weather warnings.

The Neckar and Rhine rivers in Hesse are experiencing significant flooding, with four gauge readings exceeding warning limits over the weekend. According to the HLNUG report, the water levels of the Rhine in Hesse are expected to escalate further, potentially surpassing warning level 3 on Tuesday. Concurrently, the Main's water levels are also anticipated to rise on Monday, although the HLNUG predicts no warning level breaches for the Main in the near future.
Recently, the Dill and Weschnitz rivers also experienced intense flooding, but their water levels have started to decrease as the weather has stabilized. Yet, in specific areas of Hesse, heavy showers still caused some flooding, prompting necessary measures to be taken.
In comparison, southern Germany has been more severely affected by the floods. As a result, the Hessian Interior Ministry has authorized the dispatch of around 20 vehicles and 111 emergency services to aid Bavaria in managing its flood situation.
To monitor the flood risk, the HLNUG advises keeping informed of DWD's weather warnings. Meanwhile, certain sections of the B42 federal highway on the Rhine were closed due to flooding, as communicated by the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis.
Unfortunately, the HLNUG cannot predict local flooding or flooding resulting from heavy rain showers. Given this, they suggest staying updated on DWD's weather advisories.
