Meteorological Conditions - Intense thunderstorms may occur, leading to floods.
In the southern region of Bavaria, there's a forecast of intense thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall and powerful winds on Monday night. The German Weather Service issued this warning in the midday. Additionally, there's a chance of brief showers due to heavy rainfall in certain areas, with as much as 40 liters of rain falling per square meter. The Flood Warning Service (HND) issued a warning as the potential for 'intense flash floods' in southwestern Bavaria increases due to these heavy downpours.
The HND predicts that minor rivers will overflow in a short time, causing temporary flooding. However, they didn't provide specifics on the exact flood risk in local areas.
The DWD (German Weather Service) suggests people stay aware of their severe weather alerts. At lunchtime, they issued an initial alert regarding the potential for severe weather. Later in the day, the thunderstorms near the Alpine Fringe may bring hailstones as big as large rocks and winds reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour.
As per the DWD's prediction, the weather will slightly improve from Monday. For Tuesday, the DWD forecasts rain at first in the eastern mid-mountain ranges along with the Alpine foothills. This rain is expected to cease by the afternoon for the eastern Alpine fringe and in the Bavarian Forest. Elsewhere, one can expect a mix of sun and clouds with occasional showers, with temperatures ranging between 17 and 21 degrees.
On Wednesday, the morning will see sunny intervals in southeastern Bavaria while the west witnesses rain. As the day progresses, the rain will move towards the east, with isolated thunderstorms and showers anticipated from Unterfranken up to Swabia. Temperatures will range from 18 to 23 degrees.
