- INSTITUTION Temporarily Departed due to Suspected Gas Odor – Investigation Ensuing
After a temporary departure from a school in Neubrandenburg due to a suspected gas leak and issues with breathing for various individuals, authorities are looking into a possible incident of harmful bodily harm. It's suspected that someone discharged an unknown substance in the men's bathroom of the Eastern Regional School "Am Lindetal," as stated by a police representative. This information stemmed from media reports.
Four students expressed respiratory problems following their visit to the restroom. The teacher and janitor who inspected the facility also reported experiencing these symptoms. Consequently, the school was vacated.
School Back in Operation
City officials revealed that the students and faculty were momentarily relocated to a gymnasium. The school was subsequently reopened, and classes were resumed. The six individuals who experienced issues received outpatient treatment. The fire department managed to access the restroom without the need for respiratory equipment. The area is undergoing a thorough cleanup as a precautionary measure.
According to the police statement, no particular substance was pinpointed. As a safety measure, the restroom will remain off-limits for 24 hours. The police spokesperson mentioned that this is not an isolated event in Neubrandenburg. There have been comparable instances at two other schools within the past year.
The six individuals with the breathing complaint received medical attention and were then cleared to return to class. Despite the incident, the school's administration is encouraging students to report any further respiratory issues they may experience.
