This business is in question. - Insolvency statistics decline for the initial time.
In a positive turn of events, the number of individual and corporate insolvencies in Germany has decreased for the first time since November 2023, as per the research institute IWH. The institution revealed this news on Thursday and also added that a more prominent reduction in insolvencies is imminent. In terms of numbers, May saw a total of 1,271 insolvencies, marking a seven percent drop from April. While April's tally set a new record high for the third time consecutively, the current figure stands 40 percent higher than last year's May count. Furthermore, this figure is also 31 percent higher than the May average between 2016 and 2019, before the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The IWH foresees a similar decline in June, but they also underscore the fact that these reductions begin from a significantly high base. As a result, the institute is confident that insolvencies will continue to exceed pre-pandemic levels for an extended duration.
To reach these findings, the IWH scrutinizes the current insolvency notices of German district courts and connects them with the financial records of the respective companies involved.
