Bundesliga - "Insanely nice guy": Streich's anticipation for Schmidt

Christian Streich of SC Freiburg has great sympathy for his fellow coach Frank Schmidt of 1. FC Heidenheim. "Frank is an incredibly nice guy and an incredibly good coach," said the 58-year-old one day before the Bundesliga clash on Wednesday (20:30/Sky). "But tomorrow he will no longer be our fan." Schmidt had raved about the SC before the game on the Ostalb and said he had to be careful not to come out too much as a fan.

He had respect for Heidenheim's performance, said Streich. He could "well imagine them playing in the Bundesliga for longer". They are particularly strong in their own stadium. In the Freiburg coach's opinion, they are one of the best teams in the league when it comes to set-pieces.

After three league wins in a row, SC will arrive with a lot of confidence. "We're very happy that things have gone so exceptionally well over the last three weeks. But we can't be satisfied in any way," said Streich. His team had to go into the game with "maximum sharpness, maximum motivation and maximum attitude - otherwise they'll eat you up." Defender Philipp Lienhart is out again due to muscular complaints.
