Innovative Thuringian companies honored
The Thuringian Innovation Prize, which is endowed with more than 100,000 euros, has been awarded to several companies for technical innovations, particularly in the fields of optics, digitalization and energy. The 2023 vintage shows that the companies are facing up to the major challenges, said Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD) at the award ceremony in Weimar on Wednesday. "Be it the labour shortage or digitalization, be it the mega task of decarbonization."
The Thuringian award is one of the most prestigious in Germany for innovative ideas. It is awarded in several categories. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, there were a total of 50 applications from which a jury selected the winners. The winners included Maximator Hydrogen GmbH (Nordhausen), Funkwerk Systems GmbH (Kölleda) and Jabil Optics Germany GmbH (Jena).
The Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs provided the prize money totaling 100,000 euros for the innovation prize. Special prizes were awarded by the Ernst Abbe Foundation Jena and Funke Medien Thüringen.
The Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs acknowledged the crucial role of economic policy in addressing challenges like labor shortage and digitalization, as the awarded companies demonstrated their resilience in these areas. The acknowledged companies, such as Maximator Hydrogen GmbH, Funkwerk Systems GmbH, and Jabil Optics Germany GmbH, are expected to employ their award money towards further economic innovations, possibly impacting the broader economic policy.
