RB Leipzig won the first friendly of its U.S. tour. Against Premier League's fourth-placed Aston Villa, the Saxons won 2-0 (2-0) on Wednesday (local time). André Silva (17') and Lois Openda (41') scored for Marco Rose's team in front of 11,000 spectators in New York. Villa defender Diego Costa was shown a yellow-red card after an unsportsmanlike incident following the 2-0 goal.

"Today, we had a real heavyweight on the other side. We scored two beautiful goals, that was good. In the second half, I would have liked us to play out a few more situations more clearly," said Rose. His team dominated the game and the opponent, but after several changes in the second half, they failed to make more of their numerical advantage.

Key players still out

"I want us to keep pushing and be more consistent. We had occasional passing errors. The pressing was also still improvable. It was a good win, but we definitely still have work to do," said Rose, who is still missing Euro participants Benjamin Henrichs, David Raum, and Dani Olmo, as well as injured Christoph Baumgartner and Xaver Schlager in the U.S.

RB will conclude its one-week overseas trip on Saturday (local time) with a game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in Miami.

Technical innovations bring new images

Some innovations were tested in the New York game, resulting in some spectacular images. Kevin Kampl and Villa player Morgan Rogers wore body cameras under their jerseys. An FPV drone hovered above the field, providing a new perspective from just four meters high. There was also a camera in the RB locker room.

After securing a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa, RB Leipzig's coach, Marco Rose, expressed satisfaction but acknowledged room for improvement. Despite the team's dominance and a numerical advantage, they failed to score more goals in the second half. The defeat for Villa saw their defender Diego Costa receiving a yellow-red card.

In preparation for their next game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in Miami, RB Leipzig utilized technical innovations during their match against Aston Villa. This included body cameras for players Kevin Kampl and Morgan Rogers, an FPV drone providing a unique view from the field, and a camera in the RB locker room.
