Injured in fire: train service temporarily suspended

A resident has been injured in a roof truss fire in Melsdorf. The fire broke out on Sunday evening for unknown reasons, according to the fire department. When the emergency services arrived, the roof truss was already completely ablaze.

According to the fire department, the injured man was taken to hospital on Monday. Due to the heavy smoke, rail traffic between Kiel and Rendsburg had to be temporarily suspended. Residents were asked to keep doors and windows closed.

A total of around 70 firefighters were on site to extinguish the fire. The amount of damage and further details were not initially known. The criminal investigation department has started the investigation.

The injured man's recovery is being monitored in the hospital, given the severe trauma from the fire incident. Due to the smoke and potential debris, several fire emergencies have been declared in the surrounding areas, requiring residents to stay indoors.
