- Initially, Sesko was under scrutiny, now it's Nusa's turn, as the leader of the integration project, Poulsen.

Yussuf Poulsen, nicknamed Yussi, has been a key figure in RB Leipzig's brief history, having been part of the club for 11 out of its 15 years of existence, from the 3rd league to the Champions League. Now 30, he may not be the first choice, but his impact on the team is still significant.

As per coach Marco Rose, Yussi is a reliable asset, not just on the field, but also off it. "He's got value, respect in the club, in the city," Rose said. "He's the ultimate club legend."

Yussi's playstyle is characterized by selflessness. Scoring a goal gives him just as much satisfaction as setting up his teammate for one. This team spirit is evident even in the tough competition for starting spots. Instead of being competitive with his fellow strikers, he supports them, helps them improve.

Last season, this approach paid off for Yussi with Benjamin Sesko. The talented Slovenian was struggling in the first half of the season, often losing out to Yussi in the starting lineup. However, in the second half, Sesko scored 11 goals, surpassing RB Leipzig legend Yussi, and attracted interest from European clubs.

Yussi played a significant role in Sesko's success. "He pushed him," said Rose. "Through individual coaching, through many conversations. He was like a mentor."

Now, Yussi is doing the same for Antonio Nusa, the club's new signing. The 19-year-old could make his starting debut against VfL Bochum today (3:15 PM/Sky). In RB Leipzig's 4-1 cup win against Rot-Weiss Essen, Nusa came on in the 83rd minute and scored his first goal for the club just a minute later.

From a sporting perspective, Yussi is still far from finished according to Rose. "I see Yussi not just as an integrator and moderator, but he's already an important factor for us," said the coach. "When he's fit, when he's healthy, that's always important with Yussi." The good relationship with the raw talents brought in is just as valuable.

Yussuf Poulsen's impact on RB Leipzig extends beyond the soccer field, often acting as a mentor to younger players. His selflessness was evident in his support of Benjamin Sesko last season, helping the Slovenian improve and ultimately surpass his goal-scoring record.

Showcasing his continued passion for soccer, Yussi is currently assisting the club's newest signing, Antonio Nusa, preparing him for his potential debut against VfL Bochum.
