Infrastructure Minister Beermann wants to resign

Guido Beermann, Brandenburg's Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Planning, who was appointed by the CDU, intends to resign from office. The state party announced this in a statement on Friday evening. According to dpa, the state chancellery was informed of the move. The 57-year-old, who has been a minister in Potsdam since 2019, is said to have given private reasons for his decision. "It's a bit about a professional reorientation," said ministry spokeswoman Katharina Burkardt.

According to the CDU, State Secretary Rainer Genilke will take over the ministerial office until the end of the legislative period. A new state parliament will be elected in Brandenburg in September.

The CDU, being the party that appointed Beermann as Infrastructure Minister, will temporarily assign the role to State Secretary Rainer Genilke. The upcoming state parliament election in September may lead to changes in political parties and their roles.
