It appears that victorious World Cup footballer Mats Hummels might be migrating to Spain, linking up with La Liga outfit Real Sociedad San Sebastián. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the side that ended up in sixth place last season are aggressively pursuing the 35-year-old's signature. Romano hinted at a deal being on the table, with an official bid having allegedly been submitted, and anticipation of acceptance. Club officials are reportedly optimistic about finalizing the agreement. Previously, Basque newspaper "Noticias de Gipuzkoa" had also indicated the club's interest in the German defensive ace.

Hummels' forthcoming plans remain up in the air. His contract with Borussia Dortmund came to a conclusion at the end of the prior season. Various rumors have swirled around the defender, with Spanish clubs and Italian Serie A contenders reportedly keen on his services.

Hummels could potentially replace Spanish continental champion Robin Le Normand in San Sebastián, who left for La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid for around €35 million during the summer.

This would mark Hummels' initial foray into foreign territory throughout his career. The dedicated Bundesliga stalwart has exclusively represented Dortmund and Bayern Munich up until now. He clinched the German title twice with Dortmund and thrice with Bayern.

The German defensive ace Mats Hummels might be eager to explore the possibilities that the future holds in Spain, given his potential move to Real Sociedad San Sebastián. If the transfer materializes, his future at Borussia Dortmund, where he spent a significant part of his career, will be relegated to the past.
