In recent years, inflation has been a concern for many people. However, the pace of price increases seems to be slowing down. For vacationers, there is bad news.

The Thuringian inflation rate stood at 2.4 percent in July, marking the second consecutive month at this level. This places the increase in consumer prices in the state at a relatively moderate level. According to the State Office of Statistics, the highest value recorded this year was 2.7 percent in January. In July 2023, the inflation rate was at 6.4 percent.

Fuel prices decreased by 1.3 percent in July 2024 compared to the same month last year. However, non-alcoholic beverages and food became more expensive, with an increase of 1.2 percent. Clothing and footwear also saw a price increase of 4.7 percent. The prices for stationary care rose by 6.0 percent, according to statisticians.

Holidaymakers face a bitter pill: Compared to June, the prices for package holidays increased significantly by over ten percent in July 2024. Flight prices even saw an increase of 18.3 percent.

The Consumer Price Index, which reflects the cost of living for the average Consumer, saw a moderate increase in Thuringia, despite fuel prices decreasing. This rise in costs was evident in non-alcoholic beverages, food, clothing and footwear, stationary care, and even holiday packages.
