Inflation rate in Bavaria falls to 2.8 percent
Inflation is easing: The inflation rate in Bavaria was only 2.8 percent in November, down from 3.7 percent in October. As the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday, energy prices have fallen significantly compared to the previous year. Light heating oil is now 14.4 percent cheaper than a year ago, while fuels cost 6.3 percent less. In contrast, food has become 5.4 percent more expensive, ancillary housing costs have risen by 5 percent and rents by 2.4 percent.
Package tours saw the biggest increase compared to the previous month: They became 11.4 percent cheaper in November. However, these prices had previously risen particularly sharply and are still 5.3% more expensive compared to the previous year.
Despite the overall decrease in inflation, consumers might still notice an increase in food prices, as they have become 5.4% more expensive. Conversely, some energy prices, such as light heating oil, have significantly decreased for consumers, now being 14.4% cheaper than a year ago.
