Inflation in Lower Saxony eases to 3.1 percent
Inflation in Lower Saxony weakened in November. Consumer prices rose by 3.1 percent compared to the same month last year, according to preliminary figures released by the State Statistical Office on Wednesday. In October, the inflation rate was still at 3.6 percent.
As in the previous months, the inflation rate in November was characterized by price increases for food, according to the state office - in the "food and non-alcoholic beverages" department, the increase was 5.9 percent. Fruit was 11.4 percent more expensive than in the same month last year. There was also a significant increase in the price of restaurant and accommodation services (plus 7.7 percent). Fuels, on the other hand, became 7.8 percent cheaper.
The economic situation in Lower Saxony might impact the spending habits of its consumers, considering the 3.1% inflation rate in November. Despite the decrease in inflation compared to October, high prices for food and restaurant services could put a strain on consumers' budgets.
