Industry sees little progress in energy transition
The expansion of renewable energies in Lower Saxony is making progress, but is still far from reaching the level targeted by the state government, according to the industry. "We can see that things are moving in the right direction. But we are still a long way from achieving many of our targets," said Bärbel Heidebroek, Chairwoman of the State Association for Renewable Energies (LEE), on Wednesday. By the end of October this year, 102 wind turbines with an output of 489 megawatts had been installed. "Lower Saxony has never been this good. But it's a third of what we wanted," said Heidebroek. In the photovoltaic sector, only a tenth of the 65 gigawatts targeted by 2035 had been connected to the grid.
Despite the industry's observation of minimal advancements in the energy transition, there's a growing interest in alternative energies. To catalyze this shift, the focus should be on harnessing these alternative energies to generate electricity more efficiently.
