Mishap with a Tractor and Trailer in Thuringia Near Hesse Border Leads to Grave Outcomes. A group of kids and a 45-year-old lady experienced severe injuries in a crash involving the vehicle. As per the authorities, three more kids and the 70-year-old tractor driver suffered major injuries. Three more kids experienced light injuries.
The tractor, as per the police, was traversing a steep, graveled forest path close to Süнna, a village in Unterbreizbach (Wartburg district), when it lost grip and flipped over. There were nine children aged 4 to 13 and a 45-year-old woman in the trailer. The outing was a personal one, described by the police as a "family trip." No additional details were released.
Emergency Responders Dispatched
A rescue helicopter transferred the seriously wounded to hospitals, the authorities mentioned. The injured were transported to hospitals in Thuringia and Hesse, a police spokesperson revealed. Apart from the fire department and rescue services, the emergency responders were also summoned to the site.
Currently, the authorities are treating the incident as an accident. In line with usual procedures, a probe into allegations of negligent physical harm against the driver has been initiated.
Severe Incident during Kremser Journey in May
This is not the first severe incident in Thuringia this year involving a tractor. On Ascension Day in May, 14 individuals were injured in an incident involving a horse-drawn wagon (Kremser) pulled by a tractor. Two of them were seriously injured.
As per police records at the time, the trailer tumbled over during a turning maneuver close to the village of Deuna in the Eichsfeld district. Once again, an investigation into allegations of negligent physical harm against the tractor driver was initiated.
The other vehicles on the forest path near Süнna were unable to aid during the tractor incident due to the steep, graveled terrain. After the accident, several other vehicles were needed to transport the injured to various hospitals.
