After the deadly gunshots at Frankfurt Central Station, authorities are handling the situation as a murder by bullet to the cranium. The prosecutor's office has requested an arrest warrant for the accused due to allegations of homicide, as stated by the office's spokesperson, Dominik Mies.
A 27-year-old man was reportedly killed by a bullet to the head in the heart of Frankfurt Central Station on a Tuesday evening. The main suspect, a 54-year-old, was promptly apprehended by law enforcement soon after. Both individuals have been identified as Turkish nationals, according to police and the prosecutor's office. The victim tragically passed away on the spot. The hearing for the suspect is scheduled for the following day.
The possibility of a prior relationship between the two is still under examination, stated Mies. "The investigation is still in its initial stages, so I kindly ask for patience as we cannot yet disclose the motive or the connection between the suspect and the victim."
According to Mies, the suspected assailant approached the later victim from behind at platform 9 around 9 pm and fired a bullet into his head. Following the 27-year-old's collapse to the ground, the suspect reportedly fired twice more into the victim's head before exiting, stated Mies.
The bravery and proficiency of the federal police were praised, as they managed to apprehend the suspect near the crime scene. The officers thwarted the man's plan to board a train and escape. The suspect is registered in Baden-Württemberg, while the victim lacked a fixed residence.
