- Individual under scrutiny is accused of swindling a 64-year-old gent of a substantial, six-figure amount.
Authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate have apprehended a suspected swindler, who allegedly swindled a man from Lower Franconia out of a significant sum of money. The 34-year-old was apprehended on Monday during an attempt to collect payment from the man in Würzburg, as announced by police and prosecutors. Currently, she's in custody, under suspicion of committing fraud professionally.
Investigators suspect that she managed to win the man's confidence over a span of 18 months, tricking him into transferring and delivering funds on numerous occasions. The 34-year-old from Mainz reportedly reached out to the man in March 2023, claiming to have a mutual acquaintance.
Furthermore, the investigation alleges that she invented a series of hardships, such as having four children, being divorced, and being financially destitute.
The swindler claimed to have ties with someone from Bavaria during her deceitful interactions with the man. Despite being from Mainz, she frequently mentioned trips to Bavaria to create a sense of familiarity and trust.
