In the Sachsendorf area of Barby, Salzland district, a tragic road accident occurred. Around early Saturday morning, a 29-year-old individual, for reasons unexplained, failed to maintain control of their vehicle in a right turn, swerving off the road to the left and slamming into a tree, as per the authorities' statement. Regrettably, the driver from Lutherstadt Wittenberg passed away on the spot. The 26-year-old passenger suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
