A 49-year-old man from Heiligenhaus near Düsseldorf suspected of being a right-wing "Kaiserreichsgruppe" member must stand trial at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court from Tuesday (10:00 am). The defendant is accused of considering militant actions and planning a coup with the "Reichsbürger" group, according to the Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor's Office. The alleged goal was to abolish democracy and establish an authoritarian government system.

The defendant allegedly connected with two main suspects of the "Kaiserreichsgruppe" via the messaging app Telegram. According to prosecutors, during multiple face-to-face meetings, the accused expressed his readiness to be involved in the coup. The execution of this planned coup would involve attacking Germany's energy infrastructure. The Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court has scheduled 20 days of court proceedings for this trial, ending on September 17. So far, the defendant has not commented on the charges.
