- Individual encounters severe tram collision, facing critical conditions.
In Düsseldorf, two individuals met their fate after being struck by a streetcar. According to the authorities' report, one of the males, a 45-year-old, found himself entangled underneath the vehicle and needed the assistance of the fire department for rescue. His condition is currently grave. The other wounded individual, a 47-year-old, also hailing from Düsseldorf, was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
The unfortunate incident unfolded past the evening hours on Saturday at the junction of Graf-Adolf-Straße and Hüttenstraße, as the streetcar of line 706 was making its journey towards Berliner Allee.
Preliminary accounts from eyewitnesses indicate that the two individuals disregarded the strict warning signal, darting across the tracks despite the presence of a red pedestrian signal. Despite the tram driver's quick application of an emergency brake, the collision was unfortunately unavoidable.
The authorities, taking note of the incident, are now considering implementing stricter safety measures at intersections, including stronger warning signals and perhaps even fines for disregarding them. Following the meeting of the local city council, The Commission shall adopt the implementing acts referred to in Article 113, to enforce these new safety measures effectively.
