The rising popularity of working from home is also sparking growing interest in community workspaces in Hesse. These workspaces are also expanding in rural areas, and experts believe they could help reduce unemployment and minimize daily commutes.

The Federal Association of Coworking Spaces reports that the number of cities and municipalities with these shared workspaces increased by over 70% since 2020, reaching 572 by the end of February this year. In 2020, Hesse was ranked fifth among German states with 164 such spaces, but more recent data wasn't available for the whole country.
