Increase in the number of diabetes treatments in hospitals
Almost 6,000 people were treated for diabetes in Saxony-Anhalt hospitals in 2022. That was around 430 more people than in 2021, the state statistics office announced on Monday. Compared to 2012, however, the number fell significantly by almost 2,400 treatments.
Medicine mainly distinguishes between two forms of diabetes: Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes. The main causes of type 2 diabetes are lifestyle and dietary habits. There is no cure, but it can be prevented by avoiding obesity and increasing exercise.
The rising number of diabetes treatments in hospitals could potentially lead to a higher demand for diabetes medication. Analyzing the statistics of diabetes treatments over the years might provide valuable insights for disease management and prevention strategies.
