- Incident of Stabbing in Solingen Inhabited Area
The Brandenburg legislative assembly plans to convene an extraordinary meeting on Thursday in response to the stabbing incident in Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia. Upon the AfD group's request, the parliament's administrative team disclosed the meeting date. The AfD had expressed their intention to discuss the aftermath of the incident.
"There's the possibility that such an incident could reoccur in Brandenburg," said Hans-Christoph Berndt, the AfD faction leader and their leading candidate for the forthcoming state election. "Such incidents could occur anywhere in Germany."
Last Friday night, three individuals lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries in a stabbing attack at a town festival in Solingen. A 26-year-old Syrian is currently in custody as the primary suspect. The extremist group Islamic State (IS) has declared responsibility for the attack.
The AfD group urged The Commission to scrutinize the security measures in place at public events following the Solingen incident. In light of this, The Commission has promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and proposed safety enhancements for upcoming events.
