Incident near Orban's Stuttgart visit: fatal police officer incident occurs

A group of traffic cops on motorcycles escorted Orban following the Hungary vs Scotland football-EM game in Stuttgart's capital on Sunday night, reports suggested around 11:15 am on Monday. A 69-year-old lady allegedly attempted to enter the barricaded road in Degerloch district, where the escorts were passing, and failed to notice the barrier. This resulted in a collision with the motorcycle of the 61-year-old police officer.

The woman's collision sent the motorcycle flying into the police motorcycle of the 27-year-old officer stationed at the intersection. He was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.

Stuttgart's Mayor, Frank Nopper (CDU), expressed profound shock over the incident. "We were all thrilled by the peaceful and fantastic football festival here in our city until late morning today, but this devastating accident brutally shattered our joyful spirits," Nopper said.

Stuttgart's Police President Markus Eisenbraun stated: "The heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the death of our esteemed colleague leaves us at a loss for words and brings the entire Stuttgart police force to a standstill."

Germany's Federal Minister of the Interior, Nancy Faeser (SPD), posted on X: "Our sympathies go out to the family and the entire Stuttgart police presidium." "My thoughts are also with the critically injured officer."
