Recently, there was an episode involving AfD state parliamentarian Peer Lilienthal at his residence in the Uelzen district. Approximately 20-30 individuals, many wearing masks, were seen in the area on a tour bus. They reportedly threw flyers into nearby mailboxes.
According to a spokesperson from the Interior Ministry, an investigation has been launched due to possible insults, slander, and defamation. The complaint is currently being reviewed.
The AfD state parliamentary group acknowledged the occurrence of an incident but clarified that Lilienthal wasn't home at the time, and he reported it on Sunday. The police in Lüneburg confirmed that there were injured parties - a resident and someone from the group.
In response to this incident, the AfD state parliamentary group sent a letter to Interior Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD). They labeled it as a new escalation stage, as mentioned in the letter (sent to dpa) received by the Ministry. Behrens's office confirmed the receipt of the letter.
Klaus Wichmann, head of the AfD parliamentary group, declared in a statement, "Whether a Green MP in Göttingen is attacked or an AfD MP and his family are harassed - we must put an end to this escalation spiral." Mari Kollenrott, a Green parliamentarian in Göttingen, sustained minor injuries during a campaign event in May.
