Handball - The Bundesliga team SC Magdeburg commenced their campaign with a friendly match against VfL Gummersbach, who finished sixth the previous season. Magdeburg maintained dominance from the get-go, bringing in newcomer Antonia Serradilla Cuenca and Olympic champion Magnus Saugstrup to man the middle block. Later, Magnus was replaced by Tim Zechel. The newly signed Manuel Zehnder took to the court for Magdeburg in the 17th minute, marking his debut.

Coach Bennet Wiegert opted for experimental tactics, and his squad responded well. Magdeburg enjoyed a four-point lead at the break. Post-half-time, SC Magdeburg increased their advantage to six, but Gummersbach showed resilience, consistently pushing back. In the end, Magdeburg celebrated their fifth triumph in six pre-season matches.

Magdeburg's middle block, strengthened by the additions of Antonia Serradilla Cuenca and Magnus Saugstrup, performed exceptionally well in the handball match. Despite Magnus being substituted by Tim Zechel, the handball team continued to dominate, ultimately securing a 5-1 pre-season record.
