After two unsuccessful attempts, Hoecke couldn't get a straight ticket to the Thuringia state parliament in Eichsfeld. But he managed to sneak in through the state list, becoming the parliamentary group leader both times. Recenty, he faced another defeat in Greiz, leaving him with no choice but to rely on his top position in the list for a potential comeback. Whether this list even gets used depends on the outcomes of the first-past-the-post elections in the other 43 constituencies. As of now, predictions indicate that the AfD might bag 32 seats in the new Erfurt parliament - if they win these seats through direct victories, the list won't be needed.

On his day off, Hoecke decided to attend a local event on Sunday. Despite the defeat in Greiz, Hoecke remains hopeful for a potential comeback through the state list.
