- In the supermarkets of Gera, there's a buzz about arachnids boasting a white hue.
At two local supermarkets in Gera, shoppers stumbled upon boxes of fruit harboring tiny, white arachnids. Authorities, including the fire department, police, and veterinary office, were summoned to Gera-Lusan and Zwötzen on Monday afternoon, as per police reports. The curious arachnids were identified as Four-spotted Orbweaver spiders, with the origin of the invaders yet to be determined.
Both affected establishments were momentarily cleared out until the arrival of the emergency services. Following this incident, precautions have been established in the supermarkets to deal with these run-of-the-mill, non-threatening European spiders, according to police statements.
The supermarkets implemented strict measures to prevent such unforeseen encounters with other types of animals or insects. However, shoppers expressed their discomfort about purchasing fruits from 'Other' stores due to the recent arachnid invasion.
