The leftover Saxon teams have landed suitable foes in the next stage of the DFB Cup contest. Premier League outfit RB Leipzig will cradle FC St. Pauli, while third-tier team Dynamo Dresden encounters second-tier squad SV Darmstadt 98. The selection process took place at the Football Museum in Dortmund, with 3x3 Olympic champion Sonja Greinacher serving as the event's referee. The competition will unfold on October 29 and 30, with specific timing still under wraps.

Leipzig effortlessly trounced third-tier side Rot-Weiss Essen 4:1 in the initial round. In the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, they clinched the trophy on both occasions, but last year they succumbed in the second round at Wolfsburg.

Dresden commenced their campaign in mid-August with a triumphant 2:0 over second-tier contender Fortuna Düsseldorf. They have a history with Darmstadt, but they suffered a 0:3 defeat in the second round back in December 2020.

SV Darmstadt 98 will face Dynamo Dresden in an intriguing second-tier versus third-tier clash in the DFB Cup, a rematch of their previous encounter where Dresden emerged victorious. Despite this past result, Darmstadt will aim to turn the tables this time around.

In light of their recent form, SV Darmstadt 98 will look to capitalize on their chances against Dynamo Dresden, hoping to avenge their 2020 defeat and potentially progress further in the DFB Cup.
