In Thuringia, veteran Minister-President Bodo Ramelow (from the Left) waltzed into the legislative hall in Erfurt as a direct contender. The 68-year-old clinched his Erfurt constituency, defeating challengers hailing from AfD, CDU, and SPD, among others. With a staggering 42.4% of the votes, Ramelow triumphantly safeguarded his direct mandate, which he'd already possessed during the previous parliamentary session. Despite the Left's noticeably weaker overall presence compared to five years gone by.

Ramelow had assured the German Press Agency that he'd accept his mandate in Thuringia's state parliament, regardless of the government formation outcomes post-election Sunday. Serving as the Left's top-notch candidate in Thuringia and a direct contender in Erfurt, Ramelow declared, "It's my duty to carry out my service for my voters in the state parliament." Ramelow has maintained a constant presence in Erfurt's state parliament since 1999, with a minor four-year break serving in the Bundestag.

Bodo Ramelow, the victorious candidate in Erfurt's constituency, expressed his commitment to serve his voters in Thuringia's state parliament, as he had done since 1999 with a brief interruption for the Bundestag. Despite facing challenges from parties such as AfD, CDU, and SPD, Ramelow, as the leader of the Left in Thuringia, managed to secure an impressive 42.4% of the votes, ensuring his direct mandate for another parliamentary session.
