In the past year, reported incidents of radical right-wing misdeeds in Hesse have soared to reach their highest level in a decade.
"The figures are quite worrying and underscore that far-right extremism poses the biggest danger to our liberal democratic system," declared Hesse's Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU). Every second extremist in the nation has a tendency towards violence. The escalating radicalization of the AfD has played a significant role in this.
The number of Reich citizens advocates has swelled to 1,200 members, a development that sparked concern, as per Poseck. This group encompasses individuals who support fringe ideologies as well as those with an affinity for extremist weaponry.
In 2023, the count of antisemitic incidents skyrocketed by 224%, reaching 347 incidents. "Since the Hamas-led terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, antisemitism has once again become alarmingly prominent," Poseck continued. Antisemitism can be found in all extremist factions.
The domestic intelligence agency categorizes 13,110 Hesse residents as part of the alleged 'extremist risk pool.' All potential extremist activities are considered. However, compared to 2022, the figure has seen a minor decrease.
"The overall security situation remains tense," Poseck stated. He advocated for more authority for the security forces and the enhancement of the intelligence services. Additionally, the weapons law needs to be strengthened and unauthorized immigration should be curbed.
The CDU, with Roman Poseck as its representative, has been vocal about the rise in extremist groups. Poseck, the Interior Minister of Hesse (CDU), has expressed concern over the increase in members of the Reich citizens advocates, who hold fringe ideologies and have an affinity for extremist weaponry.
