In the latest survey, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) is reportedly leading the pack before the elections in Thuringia.
Here are the outcomes of the alliance: Sahra Wagenknecht's Alliance (BSW) garnered 17%, while the Left party, led by Minister President Bodo Ramelow, managed 13%. The SPD was expected to gain seven%. The current governing party, the Greens, in a coalition with the Left and SPD, fell short with three%. The FDP also failed to secure a spot in parliament.
The formation of a coalition after the election is predicted to be challenging, as per the survey results. Coalitions with the AfD are off the table for all other parties. The CDU also dismisses alliances with the Left and Greens. The only viable majority option appears to be a coalition of CDU, BSW, and SPD. However, alliances with the BSW are controversial within the CDU. Voigt showed willingness to engage in discussions, but CDU federal chairman Friedrich Merz ruled out coalitions, at least at the federal level, for now.
New state parliaments will be elected in Thuringia and Saxony next Sunday, with Brandenburg following on September 22. The results are highly anticipated, particularly with regards to the AfD's performance. In Thuringia, the party has been topping the polls for quite some time. The latest survey, conducted by Infratest dimap for ARD between Monday and Wednesday, included 1551 eligible voters in Thuringia.
The AfD continues to lead in Thuringia's upcoming state elections, according to the latest polls. For other parties, coalitions with the AfD remain an unacceptable option due to their political stance.
