- In the late stages, Ulm endured two more goals, leading to another loss for them.

Despite a commendable performance, SSV Ulm faced their fourth loss of the season in their fourth match. The recently promoted Swabian team fell 1-2 (1-0) to Fortuna Düsseldorf in the second Bundesliga, thanks to two late goals from substitutes. Felix Higl put Ulm ahead in the 41st minute with a penalty, but Dzenan Pejcinovic (81') and Danny Schmidt (82') flipped the script.

Dawid Kownacki, who had returned on loan from Werder Bremen, had two golden opportunities for Düsseldorf in the first half, both skillfully saved by Ulm goalkeeper Christian Ortag (24' and 28'). Subsequently, Higl converted from the spot following a foul by Emmanuel Iyoha on Philipp Strompf.

Düsseldorf searched for an equalizer, but didn't pose a significant threat until the 70th minute. Felix Klaus's powerful shot slammed against the left post, bounced off the right, but eventually missed its mark. And then, the substitutes took over. Pejcinovic's penalty was initially blocked by Ortag, but he netted the rebound. Almost instantaneously, Schmidt found the back of the net from close range, ultimately securing Ulm's unfortunate loss.

German team Fortuna Düsseldorf managed to overcome SSV Ulm's lead, with their promotion boost coming from substitutes Dzenan Pejcinovic and Danny Schmidt. Despite playing in Germany's second Bundesliga, Ulm faced a tough challenge against a resilient Fortuna Düsseldorf squad.
