Voting Process - In the initial round of voting for the Mayor of Völklingen, no choice was made.

The winner of the mayoral seat in Völklingen's town hall won't be decided until a second round of voting takes place. On Sunday, the first round of mayoral elections saw no candidate obtaining over 50% of the votes.

Stephan Tautz, from the local council's "We Citizens of Völklingen" list, came out on top of the preliminary results, receiving almost 37% of the votes. Current Mayor Christiane Blatt (SPD) took the second spot with 29% of the votes. They'll compete in a runoff election scheduled for June 23rd.

Völklingen has approximately 40,000 residents. From the total population, around 55% cast their votes.
