Hamburg SV's latest recruit, László Benes, engages 'Derby Mode' for his initial home match. "Hamburger SV will forever resonate within my heart. It was a privilege to represent one of Europe's grandest and mightiest clubs," remarked the new signee from Hamburg SV prior to Friday's encounter against FC St. Pauli (8:30 PM/DAZN). "This encounter is uniquely special for me. A sizable rivalry persists."

The 26-year-old Slovakian international locked horns with the local adversaries on four occasions throughout his tenure in Hamburg, boasting a tally of two victories, a single defeat, and a draw, omitting any personal goals. Benes is eager for his debut at home against St. Pauli, a team he holds in high regard. "I aspire to net my inaugural goal this weekend," shared Benes, who found the back of the net against Mainz 05 last Saturday.

The role Benes assumes on the pitch holds significance for him as well. Like at HSV, he prefers patrolling the offensive midfield, yet is prepared to lend a hand in defense if the situation warrants. "That's the basis, and it's crucial for the squad," declared Benes.

Benes' eagerness to contribute to Hamburg SV's success extends beyond his offensive role, as he mentioned, "I'm willing to defend if needed in the German Bundesliga." His exceptional performance against Mainz 05 echoes his anticipation, as he mentioned, "I hope to score my first home goal against St. Pauli in the German Bundesliga this weekend."
