National squad - In the European Championship, Germany will advance to the round of 16 at the latest in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Starting the European Championship football tournament on Friday, Germany's national team could play in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) from the round of 16 onwards. As the leading team in Group A, this group would battle for their first knockout match against an opponent on the 29th of June in Dortmund.
In case Germany doesn't secure the first position, they could join the four other third-place teams competing in the round of 16, playing in Cologne on the 30th of June. If they thrive or have a successful run, quarterfinals in Düsseldorf (June 6) and semifinals in Dortmund (June 10) are potential outcomes.
No German group-stage games in NRW
Unfortunately, no German team group-stage matches will take place in North Rhine-Westphalia. Their first EM game after the initial clash in Munich at 9 pm on June 11 will be against Hungary in Stuttgart on June 19. The squad's next match will be against Switzerland in Frankfurt on June 23. NRW's first European Championship game will feature Hungary versus Switzerland taking place on Saturday afternoon (3 pm) in Cologne, followed by another game between Italy and Albania on Saturday night (9 pm) in Dortmund.
From June 14 to July 14, the European Championship will be home to 51 games, with 20 of them being held in NRW's most populous cities, including Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Cologne, and Gelsenkirchen. Other than group-stage matches and four round-of-16 games, a quarterfinal and a semifinal will also be hosted in this state.
