The 15-centimeter long blade was found approximately 300 meters away from the crime scene. According to Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU), a suitable sheath was discovered in the suspect's asylum lodgings.

The 26-year-old Syrian individual is currently detained in Düsseldorf prison. The Federal Prosecutor's Office has leveled charges against him, which include involvement in the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) and multiple homicides. In the incident at a party in Solingen, three people perished. Eight more suffered injuries, four of them seriously.

The weapon used in the crime was identified as a 15-centimeter long blade, potentially serving as a deadly weapon. The suspect's asylum lodgings reportedly contained a suitable sheath for this weapon of crime.
