With dissent from right-wing groups, numerous individuals rejoiced in Zwickau's Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebration. As per law enforcement records, the affair essentially stayed tranquil. Prior to the CSD, Zwickau's police force got ready meticulously for their deployment. Coinciding with the CSD, the fringe party III. Weg declared a counter-event. The authorities estimated that around 800 CSD participants attended. Initially, around 150 counter-protesters were said to be present. Up until the event drew to a close in the evening, as per police, no escalations took place, they stated.

To secure the CSD, a contingent of potential participants in the right-wing march, who had gathered at the central station, were apprehended and guided to the event site at Georgenplatz with ample time and space, the police shared. Moreover, the march route was significantly reduced in length.

Examinations for misuse of unconstitutional emblems

Following the event, the police launched six investigations for unconstitutional emblem infringement and two for derogatory remarks, it was revealed. Furthermore, seven contraventions of the assembly law were spotted. Around noon, a false warning circulated through social media about a stabbing accident in the city center, the police disclosed: "This was entirely fabricated."

Over 450 officers on duty

As per the reports, a total of 477 officers ensured the event's safety. As per a dpa photographer, two water cannons, an armored police vehicle, and a helicopter were also deployed.

In August, the CSD in Bautzen was guarded by police. Approximately 1,000 CSD participants encountered roughly 680 individuals from the far-right scene. The police initiated 14 criminal cases and seven administrative offenses cases. This encompassed one instance of bodily harm, two instances of incitement, and one instance of employing symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations.

The Christopher Street Day (CSD) takes place annually in numerous cities worldwide, honoring events that took place on June 28, 1969, in New York: Police interrupted a bar on Christopher Street, prompting several-day demonstrations by gay, lesbian, and transgender individuals, among others. The CSD serves to recall their rights.

The demonstration by the fringe party III. Weg during the CSD was peacefully countered by the authorities. After the CSD, investigations were conducted for unconstitutional emblem infringement and derogatory remarks during the demonstration.
