- In Solingen, the FDP advocates for establishing an inquiry committee in the state parliament.
Following the tragic stabbing incident in Solingen, the FDP is advocating for a fact-finding committee in the Düsseldorf state parliament. The impetus behind this call stems from the asylum case involving the suspected Syrian (26). "The shocking incident of the suspected knife attacker in Solingen hints at significant flaws in the collaboration between our authorities, similar to past occurrences," FDP parliamentary group leader Henning Höne informed the press agency dpa.
"It's completely unacceptable that the expulsion of a dissolved asylum seeker, who was supposed to be relocated to Bulgaria under the Dublin regulations, was impeded due to alleged inadequate communication and implementation," the FDP representative elaborated.
Request to CDU, SPD, and Greens
Höne continued: "That Minister President Wüst has highlighted coordination lapses indicates that the state government acknowledges the gravity of the situation." However, as Höne pointed out: "Verbal assurances for clarification are not sufficient. And the circular blame game between the different state levels doesn't contribute to the solution. We require tangible measures and binding agreements between the federal government, the state, and the municipalities to ensure that future oversights are avoided."
The FDP parliamentary group leader proposed "a thorough examination of the events and whether any prior indications were disregarded." A parliamentary investigative committee (PUA) "would be the suitable method, following the conclusion of the ongoing investigations, to assign responsibilities and prevent future mistakes," said Höne. He implored the factions of CDU, SPD, and Greens to establish a U-committee.
"The FDP's proposal for a fact-finding committee in the Landtag, or Düsseldorf state parliament, is aimed at addressing the coordination issues highlighted by the stabbing incident in Solingen."
"If the CDU, SPD, and Greens in the Landtag agree to establish a U-committee, as suggested by the FDP, it could lead to a thorough examination and potential prevention of similar oversights, such as the ones witnessed in the asylum case involving the suspected Syrian."
