Government - For victims of flight and displacement: flags fly in NRW
Public buildings in North Rhine-Westphalen will hoist their flags on this Thursday to draw attention to the victims of flight and expulsion. "War, conflicts and persecution force over hundreds of millions of people today to a last resort: to leave their homeland", wrote NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) on Wednesday. Often they had to leave behind their possessions, but also important people. "Despair drives men, women and children to give up everything to save their lives", said Reul. The flagging of public buildings should serve as a sign and remind us of the fate of these people.
