Close to 102,000 individuals throughout Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia began drawing their first legal retirement income last year, as per the German Pension Insurance Middle Germany. The figures indicate a slight growth from 2022.

A large chunk of these new seniors resided in Saxony (47,388), followed by Saxony-Anhalt (27,884) and Thuringia (26,729), accounting for approximately half the total. At the same time, the pension fund recorded 102,001 new retirees. Per their accounts, they distribute around 1.5 million pensions each month.

The majority of these individuals were awarded retirement benefits for those who have a career spanning 45 years or more. To qualify for this, insured individuals need to meet a specific requirement.
