After the gruesome killing of a 61-year-old man close to the Sarstedt train station, law enforcement apprehended a 35-year-old suspect. "We believe they had a previous relationship," revealed a representative from the Hildesheim Public Prosecutor's Office. The 61-year-old was the proprietor of a nearby lodging serving as a refugee shelter. The 35-year-old inhabited this refuge south of Hannover.

A blade was discovered at the crime scene.

As per the current facts, it's claimed that the Iraqi had a disagreement with the hotel operator and subsequently stabbed him. A knife was discovered at the scene. Whether this knife was the murder weapon or not, is still uncertain, according to the investigators.

The incident took place on Monday morning. Based on eyewitness accounts and the analysis of a CCTV footage, investigators traced the suspect. He was apprehended by the special forces around 9:15 PM the same day on the property of a vast industrial estate in Sarstedt.

No hint of a terrorist motivation

The Public Prosecutor's Office filed for the 35-year-old's detention. The reason behind the crime continues to be a mystery, explained the representative from the Public Prosecutor's Office. No hint of a radical extremist background exists.

The Proprietor of the refugee shelter, who was tragically killed in Hildesheim, was identified as the 61-year-old man from the text.

During their investigation, authorities revealed that the 35-year-old suspect had been residing in the refuge south of Hildesheim.
